The German media have praised the touring Army photo exhibit for "proving guilt" while ignoring evidence that the photos have cut-and-pasted figures, incorrect captions and show Russian rather than German mass graves. And because not one unaltered exhibit photo shows German soldiers abusing civilians or P.O.W.'s the photos actually indicate German innocence not guilt.
The show is financed by German Multi-millionaire Jan-Phillip Reemstma, whose father's WW2 cigarette production made his fortune and who has spent his life funding active Communist groups. In 1997 he joined with U.S. author Daniel Goldhagen in an effort to 'Clear up Germany's past'. Exhibit manager Hannes Heer is a member of an extreme Communist group whose self-acclaimed goal is the destruction of German democracy.
The following examples show that although the exhibit purports to 'prove' German soldiers mass-murdered Russian and Balkan civilians and P.O.W.'s none of the photos support this evidence and the only genuine executions shown are of terrorists and sabateurs:
- The place, date, and time of 95% of the photos are unknown,
- There are no German soldiers in over one-half of the photos,
- Many photos with German soldiers have been altered by cut and pasting soldiers from other photos or they have used scenes from Russian or American propaganda movies,
- The worst scenes with German soldiers peering into mass graves at places like Vinnitsa and Lemberg in the Ukraine say the soldiers have executed the victims, however 1943 to '88 international commissions proved the Soviets were responsible for these murders, and
- On the few genuine photos of executions signs around the victim's necks say these were Partisans or Saboteurs whose public executions were legally allowed and necessary in WW2.
Not one photo shows German soldiers abusing or executing innocent civilians or standing beside a German mass grave, so the photos strongly indicate German innocence not guilt.
Most photos are on loan from Washington, D.C.'s Holocaust Memorial Museum while other photos originated from 5 Russian, 5 German, 1 Austrian, and 1 Israeli archives.
Below are six examples of altered photos: (Click on thumbnails to enlarge photos) |

Hanging Giants:
The 2 hanging men are 33% taller than the spectators, so if the other people average 5 ½ feet, these victims would have both been 7 ½ feet tall, which is impossible and proves the 2 hanging men have been pasted from another photo. |

"Hollywood-style" Russian movie:
This is most probably a Soviet photo taken from a propaganda movie scene as the photo is of very high quality, film-lights can be seen reflected in one of the actor's glasses, the man on the right belongs to the film crew, the Jewish stars are too large and much too clean white to be real, and there is a Red Communist Star on the background building. |
